Orion (Practice Round 1—July 27th, Baxter)
--good tone in cross-x, make sure you are trying to get somewhere, nice job fishing for the politix links—really excellent start and especially a ncie job on the line line level of the debate, now you need to focus on efficiency—use of evidence both reading more and referencing your 1nc stuff should happen further too—you’re ready to start deleting the unnecessary meta-explanation from your speeches—you need to leave some arguments for your partner to cover, rather than you taking all of them (the best part about having 3 arguments)—overview in the 2nr is smart, so good decision, nice job with it for the most part, but make sure it doesn’t get bogged down in the micro and that it makes bold real world claims
Disad Drill, 7/28 (Baxter)
Don't need to say you have 3 responses, just start responding.--you continue to do a really excellent job on the line by line--make sure that you don't get slowed down or thrown off on the tags, push through those moments--nice job using empirical exmples and really getting deep into the aff's evidence--make sure you have highlighted all the evidence you are gonna read
Parli Debate--August 2nd
Orion—you should not just say oppression, but work towards eliminating “class based oppression” or something there—we need some more discussion of the link and the impact before you get to the alt debate (unless parli is really not ok with that)—you are talking about patriarchy and racism, but not explaining how they relate to class questions—they also need tohave impacts—these arguments should be separate (CP and K)—the rebuttal is good, its very fluent and pretty efficient—it maintains the confusion of all the arguments that is in the rest of the debate
